DOXYSTIN is a high-quality water-soluble veterinary antibiotic formulation designed for the effective treatment of respiratory and gastrointestinal infections in livestock and poultry. The combination of Doxycycline HCl and Colistin Sulfate provides synergistic antibacterial activity against a wide range of pathogenic bacteria, supporting faster recovery and improved flock and herd health.<\/p>\n

Doxycycline belongs to the tetracycline group and acts bacteriostatically against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including Bordetella, Campylobacter, E. coli, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus species. It is also effective against Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, and Rickettsia species. Doxycycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and has a strong affinity for lung tissue, making it especially useful for respiratory infections.<\/p>\n
Colistin is a polymyxin antibiotic with bactericidal activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli, Haemophilus, and Salmonella species. It disrupts bacterial cell membranes by binding to lipopolysaccharides, neutralizing endotoxins and leading to bacterial death. It is poorly absorbed orally and acts primarily in the gastrointestinal tract.<\/p>\n
DOXYSTIN is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by doxycycline and colistin sensitive micro-organisms including Bordetella, Campylobacter, Chlamydia, E. coli, Haemophilus, Mycoplasma, Pasteurella, Rickettsia, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Treponema species in calves, goats, poultry, and sheep.<\/p>\n
Do not use in animals hypersensitive to tetracyclines or colistin.
\nAvoid administration to animals with seriously impaired hepatic function.
\nDo not administer concurrently with penicillins, cephalosporins, quinolones, or cycloserine.
\nNot recommended for animals with active microbial digestion.<\/p>\n
Discoloration of teeth may occur in young animals.
\nHypersensitivity reactions may occur.
\nDiarrhoea may occasionally develop during treatment.<\/p>\n

Twice daily, 5 g per 100 kg body weight for 3\u20135 days.<\/p>\n
1 g per 2\u20134 litres of drinking water for 3\u20135 days.<\/p>\n
