The combination of tylosin and doxycycline provides additive antibacterial activity. Doxycycline belongs to the tetracycline group and acts bacteriostatically against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including Bordetella, Campylobacter, E. coli, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus species. It is also effective against Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, and Rickettsia species. Doxycycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and has a strong affinity for lung tissue, making it especially useful in the treatment of respiratory infections.<\/p>\n
Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic with bacteriostatic activity against several Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including Campylobacter, Pasteurella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Treponema species, and Mycoplasma.<\/p>\n
DOXIMAC-FORTE is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by tylosin and doxycycline sensitive micro-organisms including Bordetella, Campylobacter, Chlamydia, E. coli, Haemophilus, Mycoplasma, Pasteurella, Rickettsia, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Treponema species in calves, goats, poultry, and sheep.<\/p>\n
Do not use in animals hypersensitive to tetracyclines or tylosin.
\nAvoid administration to animals with seriously impaired hepatic function.
\nDo not administer concurrently with penicillins, cephalosporins, quinolones, or cycloserine.
\nNot recommended for animals with active microbial digestion.<\/p>\n
Discoloration of teeth may occur in young animals.
\nHypersensitivity reactions may occur.
\nDiarrhoea may occasionally develop during treatment.<\/p>\n
